WELCOME!
Welcome to Cary Homeschoolers, Inc. (CHS)! We're a friendly and inclusive homeschool socialization and support group founded in 2001. Our aim is to meet the needs of our local community by providing a welcoming environment for homeschooling families in and around Cary, North Carolina.
With our rapid growth over the years, we now have around 200 member families, comprising approximately 375 students of all ages. We believe in inclusivity, and membership is open to all homeschooling families regardless of their beliefs, educational methods, or philosophies.
At CHS, our primary goal is to help our children develop and maintain social connections with their peers. We also provide parents with an opportunity to share ideas, seek support, and find a social outlet. We organize a variety of activities such as park days, game days, playdates, and field trips to foster lasting relationships and encourage personal growth.

About CHS Activities: Engaging, Diverse, and Fun!
At Cary Homeschoolers, Inc., we offer a wide range of activities to enrich the homeschooling experience for our members. Here are some examples of the exciting activities our members participate in:
Field Trips: Explore the world around us through educational and fascinating field trips. Visit zoos, museums, the post office, fire stations, Duke Primate Center, Morehead Planetarium, Historic Stagville, Governor's Mansion, and many more captivating destinations.
Group Activities: Foster friendships and have a blast with our group activities. Enjoy hiking adventures, tabletop games, crafts, fruit picking, rock climbing, tennis, and other engaging activities that bring our community together. We also meet to play various sports and organize exhilarating field days, where games like soccer and capture the flag ignite the spirit of friendly competition.
Co-ops/Clubs: Join our co-ops and clubs to delve deeper into specific subjects and interests. Engage in science experiments, explore history, learn sewing techniques, master cooking skills, and immerse yourself in the enchanting world of fairy tales.
Community Service: We believe in giving back to our community. Join us in meaningful community service activities such as litter cleanups, visits to senior citizens, and charitable drives. Together, we make a positive impact.
Parent Information Meetings: Education is not just for children; it's also for parents! Attend our informative parent information meetings where we discuss curriculum choices, testing options, learning styles, homeschooling special needs children, transcript preparation, college applications, and much more. Expand your knowledge and find support among fellow parents.
Parent Social Events: Connect with other homeschooling parents and build lasting friendships at our parent social events. Enjoy coffee chats, go bowling, showcase your singing skills at karaoke nights, unleash your creativity in art nights, and cherish the camaraderie during dinner gatherings. We believe in fostering a supportive community for parents too!

Here are some examples of ongoing Co-Ops and Groups at CHS!
Exploration Group: Join our growing community of families with preschool kids who are interested in homeschooling.
Rising Roots Co-Op: Mostly students in the 4-8 age ranges, our weekly park play events and playground meetups are hosted by parents in various locations around the area.
Voyager Group: Primarily children ages 7-11, our group meets weekly throughout the school year. We offer a balanced mix of field trips and park play, with parents taking turns hosting engaging and varied topics. We explore pumpkin patches, visit local museums and parks for classes, enjoy field days, and more. With a dedicated membership, we warmly welcome new friends. Join us and discover the joy of learning together!
Discovery Group: Hang out and participate in engaging activities with our dynamic Tween Subgroup. We also have a Tween Book Club where avid readers can discuss their favorite books and share recommendations.
Teen Subgroup: Monthly hangouts, exciting activities, and a Teen Book Club await teenagers in our Teen Subgroup. Engage in stimulating discussions and discover new literary adventures with fellow book lovers.
Book Clubs: We offer a variety of book clubs catering to different age groups and interests. Join our Teen Book Club or Tween Book Club to delve into captivating stories, exchange thoughts, and make new friends who share your love for reading.
Gavel Club: A bi-weekly, student-led speech club that helps students improve their public speaking and leadership skills through practice and feedback in a supportive environment, part of Toastmasters International.
Expositions: Showcase and discuss your hard work at our events, including the Geography Fair, Science Fair, Talent Show, and Art Showcase. We celebrate your achievements!
Lego League: Calling all Lego enthusiasts! Multiple active teams are part of our group, and we're here to support you in starting new teams. Each year, we receive a kit with lesson plans that challenge us to learn and build with Lego. As the ages progress, we delve into robotics and programming. Show off your team's accomplishments at the end-of-season competition. Join us for confidence-building, teamwork, and loads of fun!
LGBTQ Support: We offer a supportive space for the LGBTQ community.
Presidential Volunteer Service Award: Cary Homeschoolers takes pride in our PVSA club, which promotes volunteerism and recognizes members for their community work. Annually, we hold an awards ceremony where members can receive gold, silver, or bronze awards.
Rock Climbing: Join us monthly at the Triangle Rock Club in Morrisville for thrilling rock climbing adventures.
Science Exploration: Our science offerings are always evolving. Stay informed about and gain access to various science groups within CHS. From Outdoor STEM days to science/history/nature learning with Bob Alderink from the Raleigh Science Museum, there's always plenty of science happening at CHS.
Science Olympiad: Many CHS members actively participate in the DaVinci Dragons group. Students in fourth grade through high school collaborate on science and STEM projects throughout the season and compete against other teams in the spring. If you're interested, reach out and join our CHS community!
Park Day: Every Friday, rain or shine, we gather at the park for a fun-filled day. Open to members and non-members alike.
Spring Fling and Fall Kickoff: We begin and end our year with grand celebrations, where all age groups come together for a fantastic time.
